Portsmouth born musician and artist Lewis Wharton has been honing his skills in painting and illustration for the past 25 years. Originally a Print Designer for clothing brand Merc London, Lewis blended in the London Mod scene during the 90s and combined his two passions for music and mid century aesthetic. He then went to join the UK band Little Barrie as a bass player that he is still a member of to this day.
Wharton’s evolution into painting on canvas allowed him to experiment and challenge himself with naturalistic subjects as well as abstract art. In recent years he has illustrated books including the Speak Easy series by Mark Baxter/Art Gallery Clothing showcasing his love of mid century style illustration.
Today Lewis Wharton is based in Petersfield, Hampshire, still splitting his time amongst various art and music projects including Little Barrie, private commissions, band merchandising & album artwork and planning various exhibitions of his work.
